Suzy Gillett is a filmmaker with over 30 years of experience, holding a film degree from Saint Martin’s School of Art. She currently works as an Editorial Consultant for First Cut Lab and a script/editing consultant for international documentary and fiction features. She teaches documentary filmmaking, and recently curated a private cinematheque in London.
From 2017–2022, she developed her debut feature Chéramy (co-written with Nadja Dumouchel) with Dublin Films, supported by CNC, Région Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and Procirep-Angoa.
She has produced numerous film labs: iFeatures (Creative England, BFI, BBC), creator of Lagos Lab (British Council), and co-manager of Les Arcs Talent Village (2009–2017), Low Budget Film Forum and Making Waves (London Film School, Creative Media). She is a reader for UK and European film funds (Malta/Eurimages) and Talent Labs – Circle Women Doc Accelerator, Torino Film Lab.
Between 2004–2014, she curated festivals such as Mosaïques, Women’s Cinema from Tangiers to Tehran, Film Africa, and for the Marrakech Biennale. From 2015–2023, she led the Barbican Young Film Programmers, founded the Chronic Youth Film Festival, and ran the Emerging Curators programme.
